Abstract

Author(s): BARBARA ANNA KICEL, JOANNA HO?ODY-ZAR?BA, PIOTR MICHA? KINALSKI

An appropriate pro-health behaviour is a prerequisite of a normal course of pregnancy. Anadequate diet, a sufficient amount of sleep and exercise as well as avoiding any stimulants(alcohol, nicotine, drugs etc.) constitute the basic pro-health conditions. However, statisticaldata reveal a very widespread use of stimulants among pregnant women, who cannot or fre-quently even do not attempt to overcome their addiction or harmful habits acquired beforepregnancy, and are not aware of the consequences of their behaviour. As surveys indicate, theimproper behaviours in pregnancy are due to individual neglect on the patient’s side as wellas to insufficient health education and promotion.
