The number of caesarean sections is rising worldwide. It is believed that main causes of thisphenomenon are non-medical reasons. Indications for cesarean section are increasingly wide-ning. Maternal reactions to giving birth by caesarean section depend on the attitude towardsher motherhood. Emergency cesarean section is perceived as a traumatic experience for bothmother and child. Labor and cesarean section can have a lasting impact on personality.Obstetricians have to take intensive efforts, to critically evaluate the indications for cesareansection and to unify indications throughout the world in order to protect against the harmfuleffects of increasing the proportion of cesarean deliveries
