Introduction. Meconium-stained amniotic fluid occurs in about 12% of all pregnancies and it has been known as a factor of intrapartum fetal anoxia, infections, increased rate of newborn mortality. The aim. To estimate risk for occurence of instrumental deliveries and poor neonatal condition in connection to presence the meconium in amniotic fluid. Materials and methods. We designed a retrospective study of 7794 deliveries from 2004 to 2009 at a Polish Mother´s Memorial Hospital in ?ód?.Statistical analysis was based on T Student test and test χ2. We calculate mean values and standard deviation.Results. We noticed connection between meconium-stained amniotic fluid and the method of ending the labor (p<0,001), the number of consecutive childbirths (p<0,05), Apgar score birth (p<0,001), weight (p<0,05), child sex (p<0,05).Mother´s age and the particular week of pregnancy was no statistically significant. Conclusion. We observed double increase of risk for occurrence of instrumental labor and delivered child with Apgar score below 8 points in patients with meconium-stained amniotic fluid
