Disorders in vasculariztion of the chorin are considered as on of the features of pathological pregnancy (fetal hypotrophy, diabetes). Endothelial cells are regular elements of all vascular systems and their normal structure and functions condition the function of the vessel. In the presented paper the authors described the ultrastructure of endothelial cells and presented the current data on markers of endothelium activity in human placenta as well as markers of angiogenesis. The results of authors own study on the changes in placental vasculature in selected pathology of pregnancy will be presented in the following part of the paper.
