A survey of the contemporary studies on the role of L-arginine in obstetrics and gynecology was made in this paper. Since infertility is a rising problem in Poland, the position of L-arginine in synthesis of nitric monoxide and in female infertility were emphasized. Problems of oxidative stress and its influence on female fertility were also considered as well as the relations between L-arginine and pregnancy induced hypertension, intrauterine growth retardation and preterm delivery
